CPB World Trade Monitor February 2017

The CPB World Trade Monitor shows that the volume of world trade decreased 0.6% in February, having increased 1.0% in January (initial estimate: 0.0%).

Developments in global international trade and industrial production February 2017:

  • World trade volume decreased 0.6% month-on-month (growth was 1.0% in January, initial estimate 0.0%).
  • World trade momentum was 2.7% (non-annualised; 2.7% in January, initial estimate 2.4%).
  • World industrial production grew 0.2% month-on-month (0.0% in January, initial estimate 0.2%).
  • World industrial production momentum was 0.9% (non-annualised; 1.2% in January, initial estimate 1.3%).

In September 2016 (starting with the July 2016 monitor) the WTM base year has been moved from 2005 to 2010. Clarification of the procedure and its outcomes is given in the downloadable appendix (CPB Memo 'Change of base year WTM').

The release of the next monthly CPB World Trade Monitor is scheduled tentatively for 24 May 2017.
