CPB World Trade Monitor January 2017

World trade monitor, 24 March 2017

The CPB World Trade Monitor shows that in January the volume of world trade was unchanged from December, having increased 0.9% in December (initial estimate: 0.5%).

Developments in global international trade and industrial production January 2017:

  • World trade was stagnant month-on-month (growth was 0.9% in December, initial estimate 0.5%).
  • World trade momentum was 2.4% (non-annualised; 1.4% in December, initial estimate 1.1%).
  • World industrial production grew 0.2% month-on-month (0.1% in December, initial estimate 0.0%).
  • World industrial production momentum was 1.3% (non-annualised; 1.1% in December, unchanged from the initial estimate).

In September 2016 (starting with the July 2016 monitor) the WTM base year has been moved from 2005 to 2010. Clarification of the procedure and its outcomes is given in the downloadable appendix (CPB Memo 'Change of base year WTM').

The release of the next monthly CPB World Trade Monitor is scheduled tentatively for 25 April 2016.
