Forecasts: Short term keyfigures
Every quarter, CPB publishes projections about the development of the Dutch economy and the world economy for the current year and the next. Among other things, these projections are the starting point for the Cabinet in the budget-making process and for negotiations about collective labour agreements by the social partners. In the short-term forecasts, CPB focuses on the foreign cyclical situation, the Dutch volume cycle at the macro level (economic growth, consumption, investment, exports and imports), prices and profits, labour and income (wages, employment, labour supply, unemployment and purchasing power) and government finances.
The March/April projections (Central Economic Plan) and the projections of the third Tuesday in September (Macro Economic Outlook) are accompanied by an extensive analysis and pay relatively much attention to the general government and development of purchasing power. The June and December outlook are more limited. The June projection is more or less the starting point of the budgetary process.
