Dutch land policy: a relic from the past?
Abstract
The role of the government in the Dutch land market has received a lot of attention lately. Policies regarding the land market can be assessed by asking three simple questions: (i) Which market failures can be identified? (ii) How does the government intervene to correct market failures and which problems arise because of the interference? (iii) What are the alternative policies? Answering these questions reveals a number of flaws in Dutch land policy.
