Our guest speaker this year was David Autor, Ford Professor of Economics at MIT. He is also co-director of the MIT Task Force on the Work of the Future and the NBER Labor Studies Program. In 2020 he won the prestigious John Heinz Award. The theme of his lecture was the future of work, paying special attention to the role of policy.

Following the lecture by David Autor, Egbert Jongen, Program Leader Labour at CPB, talked about the impact of technological change on the Dutch labour market. To what extent has technological change led to the decline and rise of certain types jobs in the Netherlands, and what are the key policy challenges for the Netherlands related to this?
