General welfare
Politicians and policymakers recently called for a general welfare perspective on the government's budgeting and accountability system. General welfare is about more than the immediate financial economic benefits and financial burden — it also takes into account the distribution of welfare and how sustainable this is for future generations, as well as the general welfare in other countries. CPB underlines the importance of a broad perspective on welfare in policy analyses and aims to contribute to this in three lines of research.
